Fiona Danger Murphy posted a statusWhile music from the mid '70s disco-era was clearly created before most people on this blog were born, the majority of young people who love music should still be familiar with the name Donna Summer. She was heralded as the Queen of Disco for a reason. Nobody had more disco hits throughout the '70s than she did and her easily recognizeable jams like "Last Dance," "She Works Hard For the Money," "Love to Love You Baby," and "Hot Stuff," among others made her a household name.
It's being reported that Donna Summer died this morning after battling cancer. She was 63 years old. Below are a couple of Donna Summer classics that will probably be in my head all day long.
This is one of the best disco songs ever created.
An ode to hard-working women everywhere

Last week, the good people at The Crocodile announced that one of the most historic music venues in the city will now be putting on all-ages shows. This has the potential to be a really good thing for teens locally. Lot's of good shows happen in Seattle and the surrounding area that music lovers under the age of 21 want to enjoy. But more often than not, music fans under 21 usually can't go. The age-ism surrounding live music shows is probably one of the least talked about forms of social discrimination within the arts community and it's great that the folks at The Crocodile are making this happen.
Here are snippets from the press release:

THEESatisfaction
awE naturalE
(Sub Pop)
THEESatisfaction is full of great bass guitar riffs in most of their songs and jazzy groves. There record awE naturalE has no breaks in between songs. There are a few songs of which go straight into the next song and throughs your head bobbing enjoyment off. The record felt as if it had no point at all. Their voices were hard to hear and the back round music seemed a little too loud. Their voices were being sung with soft melodic tones which need a lot of ear attention to understand what’s being said.
A few of the songs on this record include Queens, and Extinct. A few songs off of awE naturalE remind me of old pop artists such as Phil Collins, and, Peter Gabriel which relates to the song Deeper. The song Sweat reminds me of Paul McCartney and Wings, and the song God reminds me of jazz artist Beck, and the song Needs reminds me of Nomo a band from Ann…
