making noise about the nw’s all-ages music and arts scene
COURTNEY FORTUNE / SOUND OFF! 2004
Bellingham bred Courtney Fortune came of age performing in jazz and cabaret clubs throughout Seattle, inspired by old and new artists like Sarah Vaughan, Neko Case, Stan Getz and Nina Simone. Moving to Los Angeles and attending the University of Southern California, Fortune accomplished more than most musicians twice her age would dare to dream of. She has toured and played sold-out shows internationally, been featured in Glamour and Star magazine, performed on A Prairie Home Companion, has been a Brian Wilson Award honoree, and recognized by The John Lennon Foundation. Her debut album of jazzy pop, “Speak Love” came out in 2009.
Since then she has become one half of synthpop group Two Tribes, who are gearing up to release their first full length.
